この展覧会はアーティスト 中島由夫 の半世紀以上にわたる作家活動の全貌を紹介する初の展覧会です。
中島由夫は1964年に渡欧し、スウェーデンに住み、40年間の活動の中心はスウェーデンでした。
ヨーロッパでは300回以上の個展をしていて、日本でも多くの展覧会を行なっているのですが、その殆どは絵画作品に限られていました。
中島由夫は画家でありパフォーマーですが、そのパフォーマンスはあまり知られていません。今回の展覧会は中島由夫のパフォーマンスに焦点をあてたものです。
近年、日本の1960年代の前衛美術とパフォーマンスが再評価されて、ネオ・ダダ、ハイレッド・センター、具体などが取りあげられていますが、中島由夫はそれらの人たちの先駆者です。
中島由夫はフンデルトワッサー、パナマレンコ、ヨルゲン・ナッシュ、コブラのメンバーらと関わり、フルクサス・スカンジナヴィアの主宰者でもありました。日本では糸井貫二（ダダカン）、松澤宥とのコンセプチュアル・アートやパフォーマンスの共同作業があります。
1970年代はウベボダに移り住み、ウベボダ・シンポジウムを主宰しました。今年はウベボダ40周年であり、この年に中島由夫展が企画されたことにも意味があると思います。ウベボダ関係の資料や作品も展示する予定です。
アートの転換期である現在の、中島由夫のアートの新たな始まりともいえる展覧会です。

Title: Nakajima Yoshio Syndrome
-dedicated to DADAKAN
About: This is the first exhibition of All Works more than 50 years of Artist Nakajima Yoshio.
Nakajima Yoshio left for Europe1964, lived in Sweden, and worked in Sweden for 40 years of almost his life.
He had more than 300 his exhibitions in Europe, and many times in Japan also. Those works were paintings.
Nakajima Yoshio is a painter and performer, but his performance is not known very well. This exhibition focused on his performance. In recent years, Japanese Avandgarde Art and Performance in ‘60s have been once again recognized. So, Neo-DADA, High Red Center, and Gutai have been notable. Nakajima Yoshio is a pioneer of them.
Nakajima Yoshio got involved with Hundertwasser, Panamarenko, Jφrgen Nash, and Member of Cobra. He was also a president of Fluxus Scandinavia. In Japan, he worked with Itoi Kanji(DADAKAN) and Matsuzawa Yutaka. In 70’s, he moved into Uvevoda and dirested the Uvevoda Symposium. This year is the 40’s anniversary of Uvevoda Symposium. It is meaningful to have his exhibition in this anniversary year. We are going to display the Uvevoda datum and works at this exhibition.
This exhibition is the new beginning of Nakajima Yoshio Art now when is the turning point of Art.
